The Eyes Of Love!

It's been a while here! I guess it was necessary to go on an end-of-the-year vacation. So here's me saying Happy New year officially.

In this write-up, I'd love to talk about the importance of our identity and uniqueness. On this great day, I was in a religious gathering when I looked around and reflected on the distinct lifestyle of each individual in the fellowship, particularly the workforce who carry out one function or another utilizing their diverse abilities and talents.

Two guys acted in drama in a distinctive style that people looked forward to seeing them in any drama presentation. Even though these two men are in the same unit, they have distinct characteristics that set them apart.

You are not a mistake!

This observation made me understand that, just as we don't have the same fingerprints, we are not the same in every way. If scientists can infer, based on multiple studies, that even identical twins are not entirely the same, we may deduce that our differences matter. This is because each person's individuality contributes to the world's creativity.

So, if my creation is not a mistake, why does man seek to compare themselves with others and invalidate themselves with feelings of not being enough. Why not tell yourself that you're the puzzle that makes the world complete.

This ideology made me start to understand people and their behavior better. We make a mistake in believing everyone should behave or act like us in similar situations. And if someone does not work according to our standards, we are quick to tag them as bad people.

I started to look into nature-nurture influences on behavior and concluded that we definitely cannot act similarly in a given situation. Even siblings of the same family are unique due to these nature-nurture influences.

Not everyone who seems bad is really bad!

So when I'm unhappy with a person's attitude, I excuse their behavior and express soberness for whatever situation that made them who they are now, because really, some people are just the result of terrible circumstances.

Therefore, I urge us to learn to accommodate people and see them through the eyes of love. Not everyone who seems bad is really bad! Life made them who they are, and you can say they had or choice or whatever. But I'll tell you when more than 50% of people could have acted the same way given a similar situation, then whatever choice they made can be excused. It's just like blaming a malnourished hunger-beaten child for shoplifting. That kind of hunger could have made the morally upright have a rethink about their morality.

Therefore, my standpoint is that we do not get easily offended by people's actions when we can excuse their behavior in our hearts with the eyes of love.

A beloved friend drove this ideology into me, and even though I was not receptive to it at first, I started to see reasons with her. I'm still learning anyway because my anger gets the better part of me in some situations before I allow myself to think about the reasons behind people's actions.

Finally, I say again, Let love guide you to being more accommodating!

Yours always,

Ruth Oluwatumininu Ololade.
